Coach Maurice Jones
Maurice Jones has over 16 years of coaching experience. Maurice brings high-energy to our program and is Colorado Springs STARS President. Maurice has served as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy Prep School and as an Assistant Head Girls Basketball Coach at Pine Creek High School . Maurice is a non-commissioned officer in the United States Air Force with the rank of Technical Sergeant. |

Coach Jake Helsham
Jake Helsham brings 10+ years of coaching experience to the STARS program, having coached in Arizona, Hawaii, and Germany. He was a member of the American Samoa Basketball "Gold Medalist" team, representing American Samoa at the 1983 South Pacific Games. Jake played at American Samoa Community College and played on several Air Force base teams capturing a base championship at Kwang Ju, Korea. Jake also brings 4 years of NCAA recruiting expertise through his current position at the US Air Force Academy and is also a US Air Force Academy Physical Education Instructor. |

Coach Kelley Stewart
Kelley Stewart has 8 years of coaching experience. She is Pine Creek’s Varsity coach and has coached with the STARS for 3 summers as an assistant coach on the high school travelling teams. She is originally from Virginia Beach, VA and is a 1996 graduate of Salem High School where she was a 4 year letter winner in basketball, softball and field hockey. She played AAU basketball during her high school career for Boo Williams. She played basketball for Adams State College in Alamosa, CO. Kelley brings a high basketball IQ, operational knowledge of CHSAA, and an unmatched level of calm and team building to the STARS program. |

Coach Duke Stewart
DuCaye’t “Duke” Stewart is in his third summer coaching with the STARS as well as the JV boy’s coach at Pine Creek High School. Duke is an alumni of Fountain Ft. Carson High School where he played football, basketball and ran track. Duke has worked with 2 Stars travelling teams and is viewed as an “up and comer” in the STARS coaching ranks. Duke's intensity and motivation creates a college atmosphere during practices and games. |

Coach William Harris
William Harris begins his second season with the STARS. He brings passion and energy to the program and serves as Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Jenkins Middle School. As an assistant, Jenkins Middle School finished an undefeated season capturing the 2008-2009 Colorado Springs District 11 Championship. William comes from a family with a strong background in basketball. His Uncle Henry "Hank" Harris is an Assistant Coach at South Carolina State University. His grandfather, Coach Earl "Tree" Harris (East St. Louis Lincoln H.S.) and his Uncle Dean Harris are both members of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. |

Coach Julian Stephens
Julian Stephens is a 1996 United States Air Force Academy graduate where he earned "All-American" honors for Men's Collegiate Rugby. He has played basketball for over 20 years and has over 7 years coaching experience. He brings a high energy to defense, specializes in offensive/defensive post techniques and rebounding. Julian will work with all players throughout the program, focusing on individual skills with post players. |

Coach Jerome Ford
Jerome Ford brings 6 years of coaching experience to the STARS program. Five of those as a Boys and Girls Club of America coach. Jerome has also coached Summer League Men's Basketball in Aviano Air Force Base in Italy and has a lifetime of experience as a player at various levels. Coach Ford is currently an officer in the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant. |

Coach James Cates
James Cates begins his first full season with the Stars. Coach “J” brings 12+ years of experience to the program varying from the youth to the high school level. He is transitioning from the Head JV boys coach at Sand Creek High School to the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Sand Creek girls program. James has played basketball on various levels, which brings a lot of first-hand court experience. Coach "J" brings that “can do” attitude to the program, selfless devotion, and willingness to learn. He is responsible for the mentoring of many of the young men playing on the boy’s side of the program.

Coach Gerald Romero
Gerald Romero comes as a first year coach with an assistant role. He has over five years experience in individual player development with a strong focus at the guard positions. Gerald's love and passion for basketball and youth leadership experience are an asset to the program. Gerald is also a local product graduating from Palmer High where he played football.

Coach Steve Jones
Coach Steve Jones is a professional educator, dedicated to developing leaders and helping young people reach their utmost potential. He has a Masters degree and Ph.D. in psychology, and he has served as a civilian faculty member at the United States Air Force Academy since 1996. He currently leads USAFA's Center for Educational Excellence, fostering the Academy's culture of learning and working to develop cadets into leaders of character for our country. Over the last three years, he has brought the same commitment to learning and development onto the basketball court. He has coached in both SoCo and Gold Crown, and looks forward to this season, his first, with the STARS. Both on and off the court, he emphasizes fundamental skills, perseverance, and teamwork.
